Our History
St. Nicholas Catholic School emerged from the foundations of Holy Family School, an independent Catholic School founded in 1995. In 2000, Holy Family School became St. Nicholas Catholic School when it was incorporated as a parish school within the Archdiocese of Seattle. The school's mission and philosophy statements were changed in 2000 to reflect this change.
The present configuration of the school consists of six modular buildings surrounding a grass court yard. There is one class for each grade with the exception of Kindergarten where there are two classes. Spanish and music classes, extended day care, and hot lunch are all held in the parish hall.
Students come to St. Nicholas primarily from Gig Harbor and this area of the Key Peninsula is growing. The recent completion of the new Tacoma Narrows bridge will contribute to continued growth. Twenty three new families, many new to the Gig Harbor area, enrolled their children at St. Nicholas this year. St. Nicholas Parish has continued to grow as well. This is a very vibrant community and this vibrancy is reflected in both the school and parish!
